On February 4, 2008, President George W. Bush released his budget for Fiscal Year 2009, thus jumpstarting the FY 2009 federal budget process. The FASEB Office of Public Affairs has created this page to keep you updated on what is happening with the budget and appropriations process as it pertains to biomedical and life science research.
The FY 2009 budget request is a
document that federal agencies submit to Congress each year
requesting the funding level that is outlined in the President’s FY
2009 budget. This document frequently includes a detailed account of
the work the agency is undertaking as justification for additional
funding for the next fiscal year, the accomplishments of the past
year, as well as a set of strategic goals the agency hopes to
accomplish with funding from Congress. Below are budget statements
to Congress which are important to FASEB’s interests.
The Appropriations Status Tracker is an active
record of the status of appropriations for Fiscal Year 2008. The
Appropriations Status Tracker includes links to individual appropriation
bills, house and senate voting records, as well as public law records.
The tracker is maintained by the Library of Congress.
